Welcome! I’m so excited that you’re here!!! I’ve been dreaming of starting a blog for over 5 years and today is finally the day – I’m becoming a blogger!
About 6 years ago a friend sent me a link to the first blog post I ever read. I’d heard of blogs, but didn’t really know what they were. After reading that first post, I was hooked! A whole new world opened up to me and I started learning all kinds of new things from other women – tips for homemaking, motherhood, and more. The more I learned, the more I wanted to share, and my dream of becoming a blogger began.
I was going to call this blog “A Fresh Perspective”, with the thought being that so many aspects of life can change so much with just a bit of a shift in perspective, but my sister-in-law said that sounded like a news site and after she said it, I had to agree with her.
Her super creative self started brainstorming ideas after I told her the heart behind my blog and as soon as she said, “The Domestic Toolbelt” my heart started racing, I got goosebumps and started having visions of my girl Jane up there in the title of my blog. It was perfect and nailed what I want to accomplish with this blog – equip you with tools for your “domestic toolbelt”. I want you to feel confident and accomplished in all areas of your life – womanhood, motherhood, faith, family, and friendship.
What will you get from this blog? I am going to strive to give you tools – ideas, tips, and tricks – to equip you to excel in those areas. I want your spirit to be encouraged and uplifted. I want you to be excited by what you read here and leave going, “Yes! I can’t wait to try that! What a great idea!” or “Wow! I’ve never thought of it like that!”
If you love an idea I share, you try it, and it works for you, please let me know! You’ll make my day. I get a bit giddy when I share something with someone and it helps them. Just ask my husband. 🙂
So who am I? My name is Rachelle (pronounced Rachel, in case you were wondering). As it says in the sidebar over there (or down below if you’re on a mobile device) I’ve been a follower of Jesus for 34 years, a wife to my best friend for 15 years, a mommy for 11, a homeschool teacher for 7, and a nourishing food nerd for about 5. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I’m excited to share some of it with you!
And I don’t want to just share my ideas, I want to hear from you, too! If I do a post on laundry tips and you have some tips I didn’t cover or you have a link to another great post with more ideas, please share in the comments. I’d love for this blog to become an awesome go-to resource for many people, and even a place where I can continue learning, too.
I have so many things I want to share that I decided I need a posting schedule to help me sort through it all and bring it to you in an orderly fashion. For now, I’ll probably just be posting once a week until I see how this blogging thing will fit into my other responsibilities of being a wife, a mommy, and a homeschool teacher, but I’m hoping to slowly up that to 3 times a week or so. In the meantime, when I do post, I’ll post according to this schedule:
Marriage, Mothering, Musings and Management Mondays – On this day I’ll be covering topics related to being a wife, a mother, managing a home, and things that may be bubbling up in my heart (musings) that I’ll share to encourage your heart or maybe give you a new way to think about something.
Weight Loss/Weight Management Wednesdays – On this day I’ll cover topics related to getting fit and healthy and I’ll share my own weight loss journey and struggles with you. I’m turning 40 in just over a year (I can’t even believe it) and I’ve set a goal to lose 1 pound per week until my 40th birthday. If I do that, I will hit my target weight of 130 lbs. (I’m currently hovering around 184.)
Foodie and Natural Living Fridays – On this day I’ll share recipes, talk toxins, and get nerdy about things like our digestive system. I geek out on health science and can’t wait to break it down for you so you can apply it in ways to get your family crazy healthy.
